Jour 33: Boca de Camarioca

Day 33: Boca de Camarioca

This morning I get up early. I try to go out into the street, but I am trapped. The door is barred in three places. I will have to wait...

I get a whole breakfast this morning, I'm spoiled. I set off on my bike towards Varadero. I take my time. I see a kayak training session.

I see the deplorable state of some beaches.

A beautiful bay.

A beautiful bridge.

I am visiting a museum under restoration, it was damaged by Irma.

It is an ancient fortress El Morillo protecting the bay of Matanzas and the river nearby.

I'm taking a break by the sea.

There are jellyfish everywhere...I think they are hibernating.

The road is difficult, I have had the wind in my face for 4 days. It is hard and it is very cold. The sight of this sign gives me courage...

I reached my goal today. Yay. I'm going to find a small room soon. I ask people about the impacts of Hurricane Irma. A man shows me pictures and videos on his cell phone. Here's his picture

Here is my picture.

A part of the road was torn up in front of their house. It was a beautiful meeting.

I got a video by transferring it to my phone. I decide to stop in a small village called Boca de Camarioca to spend a night. I'm tired of driving and it's freezing. Even the dogs have their sweaters.

I find myself a room.

I'm going for a walk, I'm putting on all the clothes I can... it's 14 degrees, but with the wind chill it should be even colder. Tonight the mercury will drop to 8 degrees.

I eat a small spag frette.

I'm going to bed early... I can't wait to eat celery!!! I can't wait to come back to Quebec!!! Here is my bike ride with the wind in my face...
