2023-02-27 from León to Chinandega

I passed by an old railway line. I avoided a lot of noise. I liked to imagine the path that thousands of people took at the time.

The path was sometimes very sandy.

I passed through sugar cane fields. I like the smell of freshly cut cane.

I have seen workers spreading chemicals on new plantations. Hard work with this blazing sun. I am worried about the health of the workers.

Garbage is everywhere in Nicaragua. Plastic is everywhere. I'm trying to reduce my footprint, but I have no choice but to buy plastic bottles for drinking, because the water in Nicaragua is not of the same quality as that in Costa Rica.

A short day of 43.43 km under a very hot sun once again. I had a very nice view of the San Cristóbal volcano culminating at 1,745 meters above sea level, it is the highest volcano and one of the most active in the country. It dominates the municipality of Chichigalpa, in the department of Chinandega. (Source: Wikipedia )

I arrived in Chinandega around 1:30 p.m., this place which is nicknamed the city of oranges, is a big city with some beautiful churches.

I am now 75 km from the Honduran border, I should cross the border soon!
